Electronic Arts Canada Plans Massive Expansion Set In Vancouver

Electronic Arts Canada is taking over the old MEC Headquarters and is set to plan a massive expansion in Vancouver’s False Creek Flats.

This will be the biggest scaled wood office building ever in Vancouver, with a LEED Platinum green building certification. Which is a green building program that stands for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design”. Platinum is the highest certification and is only awarded to buildings that attain 80 or more points. For employees this building uses smart lighting and air-control systems, with the design maximizing natural light options - making the building 70% more energy efficient than your average office building.

SPOTLIGHT

Modus Games was launched by Maximum Games in 2018. Maximum Games is an American independent gaming published based in Walnut Creek, California. Maximum Games was a popular sub publisher and North American distributor for many other major video game publishers. These include titles such as Focus Home Interactive, Funcom, Microids, Nacon. Fast forward to 2019, the company acquired its first studio - based in Brazil called The Balance, Inc, which then rebranded to be Modus Studios Brazil. Maximum Games was founded by the incredible duo CEO Christina Seelye and Len Ciciretto back in 2009.

Christina highlights the importance of supporting fellow hungry indie developers. She demonstrates this support despite potential revenue gains by elaborating on her 2021 roadmap when she mentions in an interview “I would hope in the next five years that we are top of mind for any independent studio to want to work with. Does that mean that we’re going to be the biggest in terms of the most revenue? I don’t need that to happen but I would like to be top choice that when independent studios are making a game I want them to be able to go, “oh this would be a great Modus game”. Modus Games support doesn’t just stop there - they also launched an incredible program called Games Giving Back that encourages and supports women to advance their career within the tech industry.

Some of the features we love: Massive indie studio supporters and strong believers that indie content is the main driver of creativity within the videogame space, charities geared to help women elevate their careers through coaching and mentoring within the tech space,
