Chell is the silent protagonist in the popular PlayStation 2 platform puzzle game Portal. She is strong willed and focused with heavy determination to escape the Aperture Science computer-aided Enrichment Center while ignoring lingering GLaDOS - a super intelligent AI computer system who badgers her throughout the game. A game created by the University of Waterloo tackles the importance of climate change and educates users on possible actionable solutions.
The game was created by the schools climate change expert team, originally made for their students but anyone can access it for free. One of the players had even said “ learning is a lot more interesting when done through a video game.” - we can agree! Tapping into the two different missions, one decisions made based on low and high carbon scenarios & two where you will be making decisions based on preparing 3 types of communities coastal, rural, and urban for the impacts of climate change.

I Need Diverse Games is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting the work of underrepresented people within the video games industry and creates a safe online community for individuals to discuss, educate and share their personal stories to encourage inclusivity. They are funded through Patreon and other fundraising campaigns.
Based in Chicago, Illinois I Need Diverse Games was founded by Tanya DePass. Tanya is a female gaming legend, activist and Twitch streamer - cypheroftyr. In her most recent interview she demonstrates the importance of finding your voice and the importance of having those conversations about diversity in your communities really is. She highlights Twitch’s Just Chatting feature to be a great platform to do that.
Some of the features we love: Game Developers Conference Scholarship program that sends 25 individuals to GDC who would be unable to attend financially, Promoting passion projects and publishing articles done by creators in the gaming industry that are marginalized.
